Hi, I'm Karina Ohashi. Some call me by my Chinese name, 尚美 （shàngměi).

I'm a native Brazilian Portuguese Language Professional. I work with two language pairs: simplified Chinese into Brazilian Portuguese and English into Brazilian Portuguese. My main services are translation, subtitling, proofreading, and LQA.

Growing up in a culturally diverse country like Brazil and especially in a family of Japanese background myself, I've always been interested in different cultures and languages. This natural interest combined with a passion for reading made me choose a Portuguese and Chinese Language major at the University of São Paulo and lately a career as a Translator.

My experience in translation began during one of my exchange programs in China, where I started working with different Chinese Language Service Providers. After coming back to Brazil and having kept working with them, I experienced what geographic freedom meant in practice and went all in for this professional path. To this day I have worked with agencies of many different countries.

When approaching a new project, I aim to fully understand what kind of experience my client wants to provide for the final reader. I prioritize keeping up with deadlines and good quality services. Keeping open communication with clients and aligning our mutual expectations can lead to great results.
